Movado
Triple Calendar in Solid 14k Gold Case with Turtle Lugs in All-Original
Mint Pristine Condition, c.1947 |
 |
Oh my! A Movado triple calendar in a full sized 34mm
x 43mm solid gold case and in absolutely as-new mint condition is a very
rare find indeed. This is really a stunning watch. Movado made these
thru the 40's and 50's with several variations of the case size, lug
style and the dial. This example has all the best and most desired
features collectors are looking for. The case is the full sized 34mm
case featuring the desirable fancy 'turtle' lugs and ribbed case sides.
No use evident at all. The month and date adjustment push-pins located
at 2:00 and 4:00 are flush with the case to prevent snagging and damage.
The solid gold crown and flawless crystal are original. The two-tone
bulls-eye dial is just incredible and just as pristine as the day it
left the factory 60 years ago. The dial is white with a middle track for
the solid gold applied hours that changes color from taupe to white as
your wrist moves in the light. Really stunning. Day of the week and the
month are displayed in the windows at 3:00 and 9:00 and the date is
around the circumference of the dial with a red tipped hand and this is
surrounded by the outer minutes track. Powered by the original and
pristine Movado 15 jewel Swiss manual movement that is freshly serviced
and keeping good time. Fitted with a new mahogany croco-calf strap.
Among the most beautiful of classic vintage watches and a solid gold
investment. |

Tavannes
Swiss Solid 9k Gold Trench Style Watch with Porcelain Dial in Superb
Condition, "Novices Cup 1920" Presentation, c.1917 |

|
Tavannes was one of the finest Swiss watches made at
this time, and were as good as, or better than any Rolex, Longines, or
Illinois of the day. They are very high quality early Swiss watches and
one of our favorites.
This early Tavannes wristwatch is quality throughout.
Made for the English market, with a large 34mm solid 9 karat gold case
with screw-on back and bezel, which was much harder to produce than the
snap on backs and bezels and was very effective at keeping dust and
moisture out of the movement. Original solid gold 12mm wire lugs are
clean and straight with no repairs. Original solid white gold
contrasting crown shows much love and is spring-loaded, needing to be
pushed IN to wind. Engraved on the back; "Novices Cup 1920" and
hallmarked inside back for London, 1917. Original glass crystal with a
couple light scratches, very hard to see. Original white porcelain dial
is excellent and does have a half-moon hairline at 4:00 which you really
have to be looking for to see. Original blued steel hands. Inside is the
original, high grade, 16 jewel Tavannes movement adjusted to 4 positions
with jewels set in screwed chattons. Working perfectly. This early men's
wrist watch is built to the standards of the finest pocket watches of
the time and would have been quite expensive. This watch was worn and
lovingly cared for by it's original owner, clearly a prized possession.
Fitted with a new brown padded leather Hirsch Wild Boar strap in
men's length.

Hebdomas
Visible Escapement 8 Day Movement, Porcelain Dial, Art Neuveau Engraved
Sterling and Gold Wrist Watch c.1914 |

 |
Completely authentic and original, this is a rare and
unusual fancy cased early wrist watch by Hebdomas that has everything
going for it; beauty, scarcity and condition. Common as a pocket watch,
these are very scarce cased as a wrist watch. The large 40mm .800 silver
case is both Swiss and German hallmarked with beautifully engraved art
neuveau hinged snap back and rose gold filled bezels front and back.
Hinged 13mm wire lugs. Stem wind and pin or nail set. This does not
appear to be a pocket watch conversion unless it was done by the factory
or a very talented watchmaker. Certainly original to the time. Original
onion crown and flawless domed glass crystal. White porcelain dial
signed by Hebdomas is beautiful with gleaming silver inlaid flowers and
minutes register. The dial is oriented with 12:00 where we are used to
seeing the 3:00 as this was common in the era of the earliest
wristwatches. Visible escapement or "open heart" dial so you can see the
fully jeweled Swiss movement happily ticking away for 8 days on
one winding.
