Hebdomas
Visible Escapement 8 Day Movement, Porcelain Dial, Art Neuveau Engraved
Sterling and Gold Wrist Watch c.1914 |
|

 |
Completely authentic and original, this is a rare and
unusual fancy cased early wrist watch by Hebdomas that has everything
going for it; beauty, scarcity and condition. Common as a pocket watch,
these are very scarce cased as a wrist watch. The large 40mm .800 silver
case is both Swiss and German hallmarked with beautifully engraved art
neuveau hinged snap back and rose gold filled bezels front and back.
Hinged 13mm wire lugs. Stem wind and pin or nail set. This does not
appear to be a pocket watch conversion unless it was done by the factory
or a very talented watchmaker. Certainly original to the time. Original
onion crown and flawless domed glass crystal. White porcelain dial
signed by Hebdomas is beautiful with gleaming silver inlaid flowers and
minutes register. The dial is oriented with 12:00 where we are used to
seeing the 3:00 as this was common in the era of the earliest
wristwatches. Visible escapement or "open heart" dial so you can see the
fully jeweled Swiss movement happily ticking away for 8 days on
one winding.
